Jaguars News · Ms. Neetz hired as the Varsity Cheer Coach

The Northwest Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Jessica Neetz as the new Varsity Cheer Coach. Coach Neetz has written a few words to express her excitement to be joining the the NW community!

“My name is Jessica Neetz, and I am beyond excited to be joining the Jaguar family as the Varsity Cheerleading Coach.  I have been involved in cheerleading for 26 years, and I cannot imagine my life without it.  I started cheering in the sweetest place on Earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania, where I cheered from elementary through high school. I then took my cheer career to college at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.  After college, I soon moved to Virginia, and I took my first coaching position at Justice (J.E.B. Stuart) High School in Falls Church, VA, where I was the assistant varsity coach for 8 seasons.  I have spent the last 5 seasons at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia, as the head varsity coach.  In my first year at OPHS, I coached our team to an all-county title, a top 2 finish in the region, and a state championship appearance. At OPHS, my team won 2 back-to-back regional championships in the Game Day division, and we were one of the first schools in Virginia to attend the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida.  However, in all my cheer career, I am most proud of the creation of the Sparkle Jackets cheer team at Osbourn Park High School, a fully inclusive cheerleading team for athletes with and without disabilities.

I am very excited to be joining the Northwest Cheerleading program.  My family and I recently moved to Maryland, so I am eager to bring my cheer spirit to a new place.  I firmly believe that the purpose of cheerleading is to create spirit, pride and loyalty, to promote interest in school activities, to develop a sense of good sportsmanship, and to improve relations among schools during athletic events.  My goal as a coach is to foster responsibility, teach self-respect, encourage honesty, strive for perfection, and develop character, and inspire teamwork and pride in a quality performance while maintaining high standards.  I am very proud to be joining the Northwest community, and I am very much looking forward to the exciting season that is ahead of us.”

We would like to welcome Coach Neetz to the Jaguar Family!
